Shang-Chi is a Marvel Cinematic Universe character, debuting in the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
He is portrayed as the son of Xu Wenwu, the leader of the Ten Rings organization. Trained from a young age in martial arts, Shang-Chi eventually left his father's control and fled to America, living under the alias "Shaun."
Forced to confront his past when the Ten Rings seek him out, Shang-Chi returns to face his father and reclaim his destiny. He discovers his mother's mystical village of Ta Lo and gains control over the powerful Ten Rings artifacts.
Shang-Chi, along with his friend Katy, join the ranks of superheros in the MCU, as teased at the end of the film.
